I wear contact lens. I had to get a prescription for them because I could not see the board at school. When I do not wear my contacts everything seems blurry and I can not make up the details of what’s around me. When I put the contacts in though, I can move faster, respond more accurately and work with confidence.

You see, clarity acts as a guiding light, cementing purpose and driving velocity in both personal and professional realms. So here’s how to increase clarity without going to the optometrist:
- Define and Communicate Goals: Clearly articulate goals and ensure everyone understands them.
- To make sure everyone understands them have them reiterate what the goals are back to you after you have stated them. A good phrase to use when asking for this is, “What are you hearing our goals are?”
- Break Down the Vision: Divide the vision into manageable process-oriented steps for a clear pathway. Help people clearly define their roles and responsibilities to ensure they are not questioning what they are doing.
- Check the Scoreboard: Evaluate often, meet at least 1x a week to check in on where people are with specific actions and projects. Adjust priorities as necessary and give help where needed.
- Explain the Why: Help people understand how their role impacts the overall goals and objectives of the organization. People want to be part of something bigger than themselves and helping them see that helps them be more motivated.
- Be Public: Post the goals and how the team is doing publicly which can help remind people of the goal and remind them of the bigger mission. It also helps to post progress toward the goals as well.
Clarity is crucial for establishing purpose and accelerating progress. It transforms abstract ideas into concrete plans and aligns efforts towards achieving goals with precision. Clarity creates purpose, purpose creates velocity.
